Local residents and visitors enjoyed a carnival atmosphere last Sunday as the sun shone and the annual Party on the Pastures event returned to Blakeney.
Offering something for everyone (including canine visitors) the popular 12-hour long party was jam-packed with entertainment, stalls, games, an Adnams bar, plenty of refreshment vendors and even a dog and duck double act!
The Creek Lifestyle team, who have a boutique in the village, attended as a stallholder for the first time and hugely enjoyed being a part of one of the highlights of the year on the village calendar.
“What an incredible day, so well attended and with a fantastic atmosphere,” beamed Creek business owner, Sam.
“When we first heard about the event we instantly knew we wanted to get involved in such a special occasion and join with the community in celebrating the wonders of Blakeney.
“It was also an opportunity to meet and learn more about other local businesses and organisations. Plus, a chance to raise awareness of Creek Lifestyle and showcase our latest bespoke range of products that draw inspiration from the North Norfolk coast and its inhabitants. These products had only just arrived in our shop and so it was very encouraging to hear lovely comments from our stall attendees.
“Arriving at 8.00am with a lot to set-up (our image here was snapped during the set-up) the clock was certainly ticking. There were an initial few worrying moments as my newly acquired mini van driving skills were put to the test reverse parking in a small gap with all our stock on board. Myself and colleagues, Jackie and Lynn, worked well together, instinctively moving around creating our ‘outdoor shop’ and we were ready to greet eager visitors when the event opened at 11.00am.
‘Tag teaming through the day we did all get a chance to wander around, soak up the atmosphere and chat to other exhibitors and entertainers. A big shout out to Moorend Moisturisers, The Bucket List, Norfolk Thai Cuisine, Wickham Candles, Beach Hut Charm Jewellery and the aforementioned Dog and Duck Show. We look forward to seeing what you all do next, and hope it isn’t too long before we meet again.”
With a carnival atmosphere and the sun shining, the Creek team’s spirits were high.
“We certainly learnt a lot throughout the day, especially that an occasional gust of wind can move the goods on the stall and lift the gazebo roof in a worrying way.”
“With the event finishing at 6.30pm we packed away with a mixture of elation and exhaustion. And found just enough energy to toast a successful day in the pub with pints of elderflower cordial and egg and chips!
“Thank you to the Blakeney Parish Council, the organising committee and everyone that played a part in such a special day. We look forward to returning in 2025 - armed with the knowledge that the hired mini van must not have a bulkhead, there is a good reason to put the gazebo sides on and we need to go to the beach on a pebble hunt to help weigh down our lighter goods!”
