About Us
We met as teenagers in the 1980s and we often went for long walks, to avoid the scrutiny of parents and siblings, and as soon as we could drive, we were off. Long days on beaches where we would windsurf, swim, BBQ and laugh. We went camping, explored new places, had picnics, and sometimes we would just watch the clouds race and the stars twinkle. These were halcyon days, and we didn’t know it at the time, but those amazing connections we felt with our friends and each other, were orchestrated by the rhythm of nature.
Forty or so years later, we still love being outside, warm or cold, wet or dry. With family, friends, together, and always with our adored Spaniel Ziggy, the woods, the countryside and the water call us to join them. And as we hike, swim, sail and rest, the ebbs and flows of daily life are suspended and we feel lighter, rejuvenated, connected and happy.
Creek Lifestyle is damp, misty walks, with fallen autumnal leaves lining the way, or the wild coastal type, where the sun, salt and sand polish skin and tangle hair. It’s BBQing mackerel freshly caught off the back of the boat, it’s impromptu swims in crystal waters, and making sandcastles with little ones. It‘s allowing Mother Nature’s elements to ground us, connect us and to remind us of what really matters.
Away from our home in Essex, we are often found in Cornwall, Suffolk and Norfolk, and it was on a trip to North Norfolk we found our little shop. We have incredibly busy lives in Essex and were not looking for a new venture, but there was something about this little flint shop, in the mesmerisingly beautiful village of Blakeney which produced bubbles of excitement. The kind of bubbles that make you pay attention and the kind that don’t go away. Though we were inexperienced and time short, the bubbles won and a few months later we were the proud and terrified owners of Creek Lifestyle.
This is our first collection, based on some of our treasured memories and with a deliberate nostalgic nod as a reminder of life before today’s distractions, stresses, when simplicity was enough.
